Xero Accountant | Hybrid
Job Description:
We're looking for a Xero Accountant on behalf of a Sydney-based client that provides professional business services, helping clients achieve growth through financial expertise and strategic advisory. This role involves working with larger clients, complex business structures, and high-net-worth individuals, delivering accounting, tax, and advisory services, while also supporting junior team members.
Salary range: RM 4,000 to RM 8,000/month (based on skills & experience)
Work arrangement: On-site presence required at the initial stage, for 2-3 months.
The role of a Xero Accountant is an individual contributor position with responsibilities across three domains:
i. Client Focus: Work both independently and collaboratively with Malaysian and Australian team members to deliver outstanding client service across business services, compliance, tax, and value-added services.
ii. Team Focus: Participate as an active team member to promote a motivating and engaging culture that supports team members in performing at their best and developing their skills and careers.
iii. Firm Focus: Contribute to achieving the Firm’s client value proposition, employee value proposition, and financial objectives.
Client Focus
- Prepare financial statements, tax returns, activity statements, bookkeeping, and other tasks as required, including all associated electronic workpapers for clients across various industries and structures.
- Work diligently to prepare information in a timely manner, with strong attention to detail, while striving to minimise rework.
- Actively apply concepts learned from technical training to improve client outcomes and take on increasingly complex and challenging tasks.
- Provide professional and timely communication to the team to ensure efficient client service.
- Identify value-add opportunities for the Firm to provide additional support to clients.
Team Focus
- Collaborate effectively with both onshore and offshore team members to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of work.
- Contribute to team discussions that drive improvements in collaboration and value delivery.
- Assist new team members as a “buddy” to support onboarding, team integration, progress, and skills development.
Firm Focus
- Support the Firm’s financial management, including:
- Meeting individual budgets, timeframes, productivity, and recoverability targets
- Completing accurate daily timesheets
- Continuously develop technical and professional skills through:
- Taking initiative to research technical matters
- Participating in training and development activities
- Contributing to team meetings
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in the Firm’s systems and procedures
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience in a client servicing role
- Proven experience working with Xero accounting software
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
Software experience:
- Preferred: Xero, MYOB, Smart Workpapers, Microsoft 365 (especially Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Additional: QuickBooks, BGL, FYI Docs
